The bible tells us that:

We are all sinners.
Romans Ch 3 v23 - All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

The problem of SIN was caused by man disobeying GOD
Romans Ch 5 v12 -  Sin came into the world through one man, and his sin brought death with it. As a result, death has spread to the whole human race because everyone has sinned.

SIN brings with it death/destruction/breaking of laws & rules

SIN creates a gulf/gap between us and GOD
